In view of the extreme weather conditions some of our services are currently suspended. The Council apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience in these difficult conditions.
Recycling and refuse
Recycling and refuse collections have are currently suspended . They will restart as soon as the icy conditions in residential areas improve. Our priority is the safety of the public and our staff, so we must wait until the roads and pavements are safe to use before we can get our vehicles and crews out again. Once collections restart they will be on your next scheduled collection day. Additional crews will be on hand to help as there will be additional volume to collect.
Community care
All of our day centres are currently closed but customers have been contacted to make sure they have enough hot food, warmth, medication and to give advice on how to keep warm. Meals on wheels customers were given additional meals before the snow and more since. Dial-a-ride is not operating and customers have been contacted to re-arrange any planned journeys.
Parking
The multi storey car parks - Castle, Tunsgate, Bedford Road, Leapale Road, York Road and Farnham Road – are open and free of snow and ice.
Staff and residents
Most of our staff are in and trying their very best to work as normal. We're asking the few staff who cannot make it into work to help support their local community in any way possible. We also ask that residents check on their neighbours to make sure all is well.
